Mutton Renaissance Club

Mutton Renaissance Club

Join the revival

The Mutton Renaissance Club is a new group that has been formed to bring together those involved in the production, processing, retailing and serving of high quality mutton. Its aims are clear:

Aims

  • To re-establish mutton as an important niche market meat in order to ensure better prospects for the sheep industry

  • To enable members to share information, ideas and expertise, to address the challenges facing this emerging market and to work together to develop it

  • To represent the interests of farmers, processors, butchers and chefs involved in the mutton supply chain

  • To uphold the specification for Renaissance Mutton

  • To act as a supply chain list for buyers from across the UK and beyond

  • To meet at least twice a year for training-based site visits and to create opportunities for face-to face meetings and dialogue

Members’ site visits will be educational and will incorporate practical sessions across the supply chain farm and abattoir visits, butchery and cooking demonstrations and tastings, etc.

It is hoped that the breadth of the membership will enable trade to flow between members.
